Children’s Liturgy of the Word 2013 - 2014: A Weekly Resource
Maureen A. KellyChildren's
Liturgy of the Word provides liturgy preparation pages and liturgy
guides for every Sunday and holy day of obligation from September 8,
2013 through August 31, 2014. Each liturgy guide includes words of
dismissal for the presider, an opening and closing prayer, petitions for
the Prayer of the Faithful, and the full text of an interactive homily
or reflection that connects the Word to the life experiences of
children.
This resource is different from many of
the other resources on the market. Rather than focusing on catechizing
or entertaining the children, Children's Liturgy of the Word
allows the power of the liturgy to act on children, facilitating their
growing relationship with God and allowing them to testify to their own
experiences of God's presence. Rather than following a traditional
classroom model of a lesson followed by an activity or game as many
other resources do, this resource closely follows the structure of the
Liturgy of the Word being celebrated in the main assembly, as stipulated
by the Directory for Masses with Children and Introduction to the
Lectionary for Masses with Children. This resource makes leading a
liturgically appropriate celebration of the Word easy, even for
inexperienced leaders.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
is written by Maureen A. Kelly, an internationally known catechist and
lecturer. She has an MA in Theology from the Catholic University of
Louvain in Belgium and has held parish, diocesan, and national positions
in child and adult catechesis and formation. She is one of the founding
members of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate.

Worship Without Words,
The Signs and Symbols of Our Faith
by Patricia S. Klein
The perfect resource to explain christian church
symbolism.
If you are new to liturgical worship, through
conversion or rediscovery, you may find yourself surrounded by
images and traditions that are totally foreign to your experience of
church. This thorough guide uses understandable language to explain
the signs, symbols, gestures, vestments, calendar, and architectural
and sacramental elements of the liturgy.
With clarity and insight, Patricia Klein explores the
meaning of these time-honored traditions, as well as their
historical and biblical roots. New to this edition are expanded
sections on liturgical colors, pre-Lenten traditions, the Last
Things, saints’ feast days, and symbols of Easter, martyrdom,
saints, and the Virgin Mary; as well as entirely new sections on
symbols of sin and temptation, and Old Testament saints and their
symbols in art and architecture.

The Spirit of the Liturgy
by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger
Considered by Ratzinger devotees as his greatest work
on the Liturgy, this profound and beautifully written
treatment of the great prayer of the Church will help
readers rediscover the Liturgy in all its hidden spiritual
wealth and transcendent grandeur as the very center
of our Christian life. In his own foreward to the book, Cardinal Ratzinger compares this
work to a much earlier classic of the
same title by Romano Guardini because Ratzinger feels
that his insights here are similar with what Guardini
achieved in his time regarding a renewed
understanding of the Liturgy. (Item #85223) $21.95 |

The Liturgy Betrayed
by Denis Crouan
For more than thirty years the Church has been torn apart by a conflict that revolves
around the question of Liturgy. In this instructive and practical work, Denis Crouan makes
accessible to everyone the criteria which have been issued by the Magisterium and which
define a truly Catholic Liturgy in todays Church.
From a position of strength as an experienced theologian, Crouan attempts to show the real
causes of the liturgical crisis that has been afflicting the Church. At the same time, his
aim has been to
highlight the sort of pastoral action that would allow this crisis to be overcome. His
solution is not to argue for a return to the past, nor is it to promote arbitrary
innovations as regards the liturgical celebration of our faith. Rather, he champions a
restoration of the
individual authority of the bishops in bringing about, solely with the help of the
official liturgical texts, the proper application of the principles clearly enunciated by
Sancrosanctum Concilum, Vatican IIs Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. (Item
